Commitment to Transparency

Faros Elpidas was created to serve. This objective remains the same to this day and will continue so in the future. Our prime responsibility is to those we serve. To migrants and refugees, displaced people, people facing discrimination, children, women and mothers and people with vulnerabilities. This for us is a constant vector of our decision-making and nourishes our commitment to be open about our work, as we seek to bring along more people and partners on this journey.

We are open, true and direct with information about us, what we do and how we do it. We believe that transparency allows an organization to evolve and flourish from within. It is for us the driver for improvement of our policies, procedures and ways of communication with the outside world.

Faros Elpidas has strict safeguarding and child safeguarding policies to ensure any wrongdoing against any member of our community is reported and treated as appropriate. If you’re worried or suspicious that a child or person is at risk or is being abused, contact safeguarding@faroselpidas.org. You will be asked for your details, but you can choose not to share them.

What to report

Abuse includes physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglect. You don’t need to be sure that someone has been abused – you can report a suspicion. This will still be investigated.

what happens when you report it

Your email goes to our Safeguarding Lead who is the person responsible for Safeguarding across Faros Elpidas’ operations. The Safeguarding Lead may:

  • decide to gather more information
  • assign a qualified professional to investigate further
  • contact the police, if it is deemed that a person is at immediate risk or a crime has been committed
  • if the person concerned is a child, the child protection team will tell you what happens next, but they will not be able to give you any confidential information.
